Service Validation and Testing

Service validation and testing is a service management practice inside ITIL 4 that you don't need to know for the ITIL 4 foundation level exam.
Service validation and testing is the practice of ensuring that new or changed products and services meet the defined requirements. For example, you are going to build a new website. Before putting it out there for public release, you would want to make sure you went through some sort of service validation to make sure everything's working properly and go through some beta testing to ensure it is properly tested in-house. You may also have brought in some external testers and ensure that it was doing everything the way that you need it to. The idea in service validation and testing is before you go and transition this into the live environment, you want to make sure everything is operating properly. And once you've transferred over to the live environment, you go back and validate it to make sure it's still operating the way you designed it.
